🦅🐯Does Your Fears Get the Best of You Sometimes? Me too! 🐯🦅

Hello Sensi-Seeker

Overcome Your FEARS

Fear is my Middle Name

Some of my earliest memories have been related to fear. I feel like I was born into this world being fearful of basically EVERYTHING.

My parents will even tell you I used to hide in the cupboards, closets, and the cubby hole often. School was even a challenge as I dreaded going every day.

Finally, in my 20s I discovered this was because of my hyper-sensitivity to everything and my active imagination (picturing worst-case scenario) that causes this intense fear and anxiety.

However, by then I already developed MANY coping mechanisms: thanks to my parents believing that I COULD do normal things like dealing with school, getting my first job, making friends, and encouraging me to do so.

Also, the simple fact I knew I had to for survival reasons. Slowly but surely I realized if I talk to a stranger (for example) the world will not end haha.

Below I am going to share a couple of simple but effective tools I learned along the way to help with that fear and still help me today!

Step 1: Own it

I know from experience that suppressing fear can only make it grow. Often we do this because our logical brain goes "that is silly" and we feel shame for the fear. But adding shame to fear creates more insecurity, developing more fear!

So, instead, you can say, "I hear and see you fear and honor your feelings." Sometimes, this can let you cry it out and be done because you are showing yourself the necessary love needed to heal the fear. If not, continue on the next steps.

Step 2: Feel it

After becoming aware and seeing your fear, you can then close your eyes and breathe. This will show you where the feelings may be showing up (often in your stomach or heart).

Then you can place your hand there and take more deep breaths until you feel it dissipate.

Step 3: Create out of it

Next, set your intention in a creative outlet and say,

“I allow myself to release this fear so I can be empowered to make inspiring choices."

Go ahead and now channel any leftover feelings of nerves into a piece of art. Doesn't have to be fancy. It can be a scribble on paper, a mushed-up piece of Play-Doh, or a sporadic poem. Whatever outlet you like best, do that.

Let Go of the Fear BECAUSE...

As sensitive-type people, we have too much to offer to play small in this world. Others truly need us to SHOW up. Given some rocky pasts you might not think so but look to your most cherished relationships. Who comes to mind?

Isn’t it the friends or family members who are compassionate, supportive, good listeners, understanding, and truly empathize with you?

Well, guess what? THAT IS YOU to them and could be to even more if you let yourself let go of fear and be open and heard. Need more assistance? Check out the Course link below!
